Adama and Dewayne Washington

Adama Tyndle Washington (Social Work ’97) is a member of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean’s Board. She is also a lecturer for the College’s School of Social Work. Adama is active with the Wolfpack Women in Philanthropy and as a leader in many Triangle community programs.

Dewayne N. Washington (Interdisciplinary Studies ’01) is a partner at NSV Development. Dewayne serves on the NC State Board of Trustees and is a former member of the NC State Board of Visitors, NC State University Foundation Board, Alumni Association Board of Directors and the Varsity Club. Dewayne has also served as a leader in many Triangle community programs. While at NC State, Dewayne was a member of the football team from 1990-1993; he was drafted in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings in 1994 and retired from the NFL with 12 years of service.

The Washingtons are strong advocates of students of color and a campus culture that supports their ability to thrive. Their philanthropy at NC State has supported the African American Cultural Center, Wolfpack athletics, and scholarships and programmatic support for students enrolled in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Both Adama and Dewayne are longtime Wolfpack Club members, lifetime members of the Black Alumni Society and members of the Peele Giving Society.

Adama and Dewayne are the proud parents of three children.
