Beth and Joey Smith

Beth (Hertford County) and Joey (Hyde County) grew up in rural communities in eastern North Carolina. Having both grown up on farms, they attribute 4-H to exposing them to broader opportunities in life.

Earning a degree in Computer Science (’87) from NC State gave Beth the foundation to grow a long and accomplished career with IBM.

The Smiths feel fortunate to be in a position to offer this scholarship. Their hope is that it will enable others to complete their education, to fulfill their professional passions, and to give back to their communities.
