Dr. Phyllis Vogel and Marilyn Lynch

The Lynch/Vogel Piano Performance Scholarship Endowment is named for the founding faculty of the Department of Music’s piano program, Dr. Phyllis Vogel and Marilyn Lynch. Established by Vogel in the 1970s, group piano instruction was immediately popular with NC State students and was later offered for credit by Lynch following rave reviews from an influential student – the Chancellor’s wife. Thanks to the leadership of Vogel and Lynch, piano courses are now taught every semester. Their work paved the way for the educational opportunities currently offered to student-musicians pursuing piano studies through the music minor.
