Dr. Rebecca Leonard

The scholarship was established by Dr. Rebecca Leonard to honor the memory of her mother, Ruth Cardon Leonard, who taught elementary school for 29 years. Her dedication to her students and her profession was an inspiration to Dr. Leonard, who herself taught in the NC State Department of Communication for nearly 30 years. According to Dr. Leonard, Ruth Leonard “encouraged me to become the best teacher I could be . . . It is my hope that this scholarship will provide the support students need to become the people and professionals they wish to be.” The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student in the Department of Communication.
