Elizabeth and Kevin Speight
Elizabeth and Kevin have cultivated a legacy of connections at NC State, one that is enriched by their family’s deep ties to the University.
Elizabeth Dunford Speight, CRNA, APRN, MHA is a native of Oregon and a Navy veteran (Hospital Corpsman Petty Officer Second Class, HM2). Elizabeth attended Oregon State University, Michigan Technological University, Wake Forest University and Pfeiffer University. She understands from the personal perspective the challenges of financing an education.
Her husband, Kevin Lewis Speight, M.D., MBA (B.S. Pulp and Paper Technology ’81), is a native of South Carolina and came to NC State as a student because of the Pulp and Paper Science and Engineering program. He later earned degrees in medicine and business administration.
Among Kevin and Elizabeth’s three children and their spouses, there are eight NC State degrees: food science (B.S., M.S.); nuclear engineering (B.S., M.S., Ph.D.); computer science (B.S.); meteorology (B.S.); and atmospheric science (M.S.).
Due to personal interests and the determination to help students, the Elizabeth and Kevin Speight Family Scholarship has been established to help future NC State Students in the College of Natural Resources.
