Ernie and Beverly Alexander

The Ernie and Beverly Alexander Endowed Scholarship in Paper Science and Engineering was established by Ernie and Beverly Alexander in 2010. Ernie Alexander graduated from NC State with his bachelors in Pulp and Paper Science and Technology in 1967. In 1972, he completed his doctorate in Chemical Engineering at NC State. While at NC State, he had internships and co-op experiences with International Paper in the summers of 1963-1967. His favorite class was Doc Cook’s Unit Processes in Paper Science and Professor Hitching’s Pulp and Paper Manufacturing. He said the most important thing paper science taught him was problem-solving.

Ernie worked from 1972-2009 in research, manufacturing, and corporate engineering at MeadWestVaco (now WestRock) before starting his own company, B&E Consulting LLC. He retired in December of 2015.
