A native of Brooklyn, NY, he was a past president of the National Paperboard Association and a past chairman of its executive committee. He also served as a director of the American Paper Institute.

He is the father of John R. Kennedy Jr., the current president, and chief executive officer of the Company, Quentin J. Kennedy, the company’s secretary and vice president; and Mrs. Ethel Marran.

As of the year 1996, Federal Paper Board Co. was acquired by International Paper Co.
