George and Janice Smith

The George and Janice Smith Wildlife Management Scholarship Endowment was established in 2018 by George and Janice Smith. The endowment was established to provide scholarship support or stipends for students in the Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology program.

George and Janice Smith have a passion for education and natural resources.

George graduated 1963 in Forest Management and 1977 in Wildlife Biology. He served the citizens of North Carolina with 29 years of service with the North Carolina Wildlife Commission as a Program Manager with the Division of Wildlife Management. George served NC State University on the NC Forestry Foundation Board of Directors from 1993 – 1999.

Janice was a devoted primary school teacher in Wake and Johnston County School Systems for 30 years.

Having met in the first grade, George and Janice have made a life together serving their families, church, and community. They have participated in the Natural Resources Business Etiquette Dinner, met with students, and nurtured relationships within the college. This legacy gift will forever recognize their selfless contributions to educating future generations and stewarding natural resources.
