Gerald M. White/Nancy A. White
First, we want to congratulate all of the scholarship recipients for qualifying for these honors. We live in a retirement community in Charlotte, NC. I am an engineering graduate of NC State ’60. Nancy is a retired nurse anesthetist (Duke ’62). We have a son and daughter and no grandchildren. With the continuing rise in tuition costs, Nancy and I felt a need to use some of our resources to help the university attract outstanding and deserving students. We feel honored and privileged to make this contribution to the university and future generations. An endowed gift is an investment in the future that keeps on giving. Hopefully, this legacy building concept will continue with each graduating class.
Impact
While being longtime Wolfpack fans, the establishment of the scholarships has given us the opportunity to get re-connected with the often overlooked, academic side of the University: getting acquainted with current curriculum, meeting faculty and students, and appreciating The Centennial Campus and it’s impact on our College of Engineering. We also have become aware of and participated in many other opportunities and Alumni functions. I did not have access to a scholarship but did benefit from using the Korean War GI Bill.
