Harold S. Lichtin

The Lichtin family established this scholarship in 1994. Originally from El Paso,
Texas, Mr. Harold Lichtin came to Raleigh to attend NC State University where
he earned a BA in Economics in 1970. He started his own real estate business in
1977, working out of an office in the basement of his house. In the early
1980s, Mr. Lichtin was one of the first developers to recognize the potential
need for increased commercial office space in the Raleigh-Durham airport region
and was instrumental in the building of Research Triangle Park. Triangle Business
Journal in 1995 named Lichtin Properties the “most successful real estate
development management company in the Triangle area.” In 1998 Mr. Lichtin was
awarded the PCOM Outstanding Alumnus award.
