In Memory of Jay Purvis

In Memory of Jay Purvis

Jule and Barbara Purvis, residents of Belhaven NC, created the scholarship in 1999 in memory of their son, Jay Purvis, who passed away from cancer in 1987. At the time, Jay was living in New York and working as Art Director of Conde Nast Publications. During his career, Jay worked for Mademoiselle, GQ, Vanity Fair, and Self after graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Product Design. As a student, he was a cartoonist for the Technician. His mother, Barbara, passed away in 2010. Jule continues to make annual contributions to the scholarship endowment. The need-based scholarship benefits students of Graphic Design or Art+Design.
