I received my Eagle Scout award when I was a member of troop 391 in Garner, NC. Chancellor Caldwell was a member of my Eagle Scout review board which I appeared before in Raleigh. I attended Mars Hill College for two years before transferring to NCSU in 1965. In my first semester at NCSU, I was having lunch in the cafeteria and Chancellor Caldwell saw me and joined me for lunch. Chancellor Caldwell remembered me from the Eagle Scout review board and we had a very pleasant lunch together. I graduated from NCSU in 1967 with a BS in Civil Engineering. After graduation I went to work for Humble Oil & Refining Company which is now ExxonMobil Corporation. After 33 years with ExxonMobil I took early retirement in 2000.

Impact

I always wanted to do something that would honor Chancellor John T. Caldwell and the ideals that he stood for.
