John and Joy Heitmann

The John A Heitmann III Endowed Scholarship was established in 1989 by John and Joy Heitmann.

John and Joy Heitmann are from Savannah, GA. Joy received a BA in History from St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, NC and an MA in public history at NC State. John received a BS in paper science from NC State and an MS and Ph.D. from the Institute of Paper Chemistry in Appleton, Wisconsin. John joined the faculty of the NC State Forest Biomaterials Department in 1987 and retired in 2015. Joy worked in the genealogical department at the State Library of North Carolina and retired in 2012.
