Mr. and Mrs. James I. Smith

This scholarship endowment was established by James I. (Jim) and Nancy S. Smith to provide scholarships for students in the Department of Animal Science at North Carolina State University. Awards from this endowment are made to undergraduates who have competed and won awards throughout their youth in the “Beef and Dairy Cattle Livestock Competition in the Fitting and Showmanship Category” either at the North Carolina State Fair, County Fairs, Dixie Classic Fair, District Shows or the Junior Beef Circuit (with emphasis on competition at the NC State Fair). Recipients must also exhibit academic merit, quality of character, and an understanding of animal agriculture.
