Mr. George L. Winchester, Jr.

George L. and Sadie Winchester donated for this scholarship as an expression of their love and affection for the University and their interest in agriculture. Mr. Winchester earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees at NC State. He taught at NC State and in the NC public school system. Beginning in 1935, he served for 27 years as Wake County Conservationist with the Soil Conservation Service. Mrs. Winchester headed the Education Committee for the State Grange for many years and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Grange.
