Mr. John L. Owen

Established by friends and family in memory of Dr. Guy Owen, a native North Carolinian, who distinguished himself as a best-selling author, editor, professor of English and writer-in-residence at NC State. Guy Owen was on the faculty in the English Department from 1962 to 1981. He is perhaps best known as the author of “The Flim-Flam Man” which was made into a movie in 1967 starring George C. Scott. The award is given to a student in the Department of English based on merit and creative potential.
