Mr. Kevin W. Simpson

Jerry W. Simpson and Kevin W. Simpson established this scholarship in 2010 in memory of their parents/grandparents, Solomon and Edna Lee Simpson. Solomon, affectionately known as “Simp”, (1909-1978), arrived in Raleigh in 1930 from Carteret County (Beaufort). Also, in 1930, Edna Lee, affectionately known as “Mama Simp”, (1913-1993), arrived in Raleigh from Union County after her graduation from Marshville High School. They met in 1935, were married in 1938 and lived in Raleigh until their deaths. Jerry is their only child and Kevin is their only grandson. Jerry and Kevin are both alumni of NC State. Jerry received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Construction Option in 1969. Kevin received his bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences in 1994.
