Mr. & Mrs. Benny J. Furr

This scholarship fund has been established by Benny Joel and Tempie Lefler Furr in loving memory of their daughter Jane Leigh Furr.

Jane was born on March 3, 1963 in Kinston, NC and died on November 13, 1984 from injuries received in an automobile accident. Prior to moving to Cary, NC in 1971, Jane lived in Hartsville, SC for ten years. She graduated from Cary High School in 1981 and was living in Cary at the time of her death.

This scholarship fund is designated for Mechanical Engineering and Nuclear Engineering students because Jane’s father graduated in Mechanical Engineering from North Caroline State University and worked in the Nuclear Utility Industry for many years. He served on the NCSU Nuclear Engineering Department Industry Advisory Committee for about seven years.

The only request of recipients of a scholarship from this fund is that they always do their best and that they share their gifts from God with others as Jane would have done.
