Mr. & Mrs. Jack M. Fleming, Jr.

This scholarship endowment was established by the descendants of Robert Andrew and Henrietta Fleming. The Flemings were earlier settlers in Guilford County and descendants of Beniah Fleming. Robert Andrew Fleming is one of the six children born to Beniah and Louise Fleming. In 1869, he married Mary Henrietta McLean, whose family had also lived in Guilford County for several generations. He had a farm east of Greensboro and also taught school. The descendants of Robert Andrew and Mary Henrietta McLean Fleming have offered this scholarship to perpetuate the memory and the principles of the children of “Daddy Bob and Maw Et.”
