Mr. Rick Smith

Mr. Rick Smith is a former student of the Agricultural Institute and a long time advocate, supporter, and volunteer for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He was a founding member of the Board of Advisors for the CALS Alumni Society. Employed by Export Leaf Tobacco Company, Mr. Smith is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Tobacco Growers Association of North Carolina and has been president of the Tobacco Association of the United States. He is also a member of the Flue-Cured Tobacco Advisory Committee. This scholarship is awarded to the student in the Agricultural Institute who, after completion of his/her initial year in the program, holds the highest GPA entering into his/her second year.
