Mr. Wilbur Leroy Roberts
Mr. Wilbur Leroy Roberts is a 1950 Soil Science/Agronomy alumnus originally from Winston-Salem, NC. He taught vo-ag in Murphy High School in Cherokee County until he retired in 198. He has won awards for amateur radio, collects model trains, buys and sells motor homes, repairs lawnmowers and has stayed busy with these hobbies and family. His wife, Frances Walker Roberts, to whom he was married for 64 years, was from the mountains of NC and the first woman to graduate in the music program at Appalachian State University. She was an organist at the Episcopal Church and a talented oil painter. Wilbur established a music scholarship in her honor at Appalachian State. Wilbur continues to reside in Marble, NC and enjoys his four children, three grandchildren, and three great-grand children.
