Mrs. Anne K. Stevenson

Friends of Professor William D. Stevenson established this scholarship in 1978 in his honor. Professor Stevenson was a member of the NC State faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering from 1946-1978, Graduate Administrator for the Department of Electrical Engineering from 1957-1978, Associate Head of the Department from 1967-1978 and then Professor Emeritus. He received a –Certificate of Recognition” from the seniors of his department in 1958. Mr. Stevenson, Jr. was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers in 1963. He was awarded the Power Engineering Educator Special Citation by the Edison Electric Institute. Throughout his 39 years of distinguished service as an outstanding teaching scholar and educational administrator, he positively influenced generations of students in shaping their live through his personal warmth and wise counsel. He emphasized high ideals and standards of academic achievement and brought wide recognition to NC State and the Department of Electrical Engineering in particular.

Impact

Friends of Professor Stevenson in the year of his retirement, established The William D. Stevenson, Jr. Scholarship Endowment as an expression of their esteem, admiration and affection for him and to honor him through a program which will assist future generations of talented undergraduate students studying engineering.
