Mrs. E. Joanne Mente

The Peter Mente Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering Scholarship was established in recognition of Dr. Mente’s dedication. Dr. Mente’s impact on his students is demonstrated by his selection as an Outstanding Teacher in 2007, selection for the Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award in 2008, membership in the NCSU Academy of Outstanding Teachers, and election by the BME graduating seniors as Teacher of the Year on 5 different occasions. He was a founding faculty member of the Biomedical Engineering Department and served on the Undergraduate Affairs Committee for BME since its inception, helping to establish the BME curriculum and creating several core courses.
