Mrs. Eileen and Mr. Douglas Dills
Doug graduated from NC State in 1972 with a B.S. in Sociology and in 1976 with a B.A. in Accounting. He had a thirty year career with Piedmont Natural Gas at their headquarters in Charlotte, NC. He retired in 2006 as Director of Corporate Accounting.
Doug and Eileen met while students at NC State and married in the fall of 1972. After Doug’s career took them to Charlotte, Eileen graduated with her Accounting degree from Belmont Abbey College. Her career was in higher education in the areas of student financial services, business office and admissions. She retired in 2009 from
Queens University of Charlotte as Associate Vice President for Student Financial Services.
Their love for NC State strongly influenced their only child, Heather Dills DeVault, to enroll at the university. She graduated from State in 1999 with a B.A. in Accounting and in 2000 with a Masters in Accounting. She also met her future husband, Craig DeVault, while they were students. Craig earned both his bachelor and master degrees in statistics from State.
Being life-long fans of NC State athletic programs and their love for the Raleigh area, Doug and Eileen had always said they would like to retire to Raleigh. In 2009 with the birth of twin grandsons (Jack and Mark DeVault) here in Raleigh, Doug and Eileen were ready to make that move. You will often see them attending Wolfpack sports events, both revenue and Olympic sports. The entire family enjoys cheering on the Wolfpack.
Doug and Eileen realized that Doug’s degree in accounting provided them with opportunities for his career advancement which certainly made a difference in their lives. To show their appreciation to NC State University, they chose to endow The Dills Family Scholarship to assist outstanding undergraduate accounting students in pursuing their education in The Poole College of Management at NC State.
