Mrs. Jean K. Steensen
The Dr. Donald H. J. Steensen and Jean K. Steensen Endowed Scholarship was established in 1989 by Mrs. Jean K. Steensen in memory of her late husband. Dr. Steensen served in the College of Natural Resources as an Assistant Professor from August 1965 to June 1973, Associate Professor from July 1973 to June 1989 and as the Director of Forestry Summer Camp from 1972 until 1989. While he taught other classes, most students, who knew him as “Doc”, and associated him with the Summer Camp at Hill Forest. He served as the faculty advisor for Xi Sigma Pi Forestry honors society and was known for his signature chili which would always make an appearance at the society’s annual wine and chili dinner in the Fall.
