Mrs. Mitchell Allen, Jr.

The late Mitchell F. Allen, Jr. was President of the former First National Bank of Eastern North Carolina (at the time, the Bank of North Carolina, N.A., and now Nations Bank). Mr. Allen demonstrated a genuine interest in furthering agricultural advancement of North Carolina. His faith in the ability and talents of the farming community won him the title “Patron of the Industry”. He established the bank’s Agri-Business Department. The activities of the Agri-Business Department resulted in mounting interest throughout the farming communities, added immeasurably to farming development through scientific farming management, and assisted in increased farming income.
