Mrs. Patricia T. Newman, Dr. Kurt D. Newman

The scholarship was established by friends and colleagues as a tribute to Dr. Slater Newman’s teaching and mentoring of students and his contributions to NC State and his community. Dr. Newman taught at NC State for 48 years. In addition to being a popular professor, Dr. Newman may be best known for his strong human rights advocacy. Dr. Newman passed away in 2015.
