Mrs. Rachel Thomas
The Department of Food Science chose to honor of Extension Professor Emeritus Frank Bancroft and retired Extension Food Specialist Rachel Kirby Thomas for their more than 75 years of combined service as members of the faculty of NC State University. Scholarships from this endowment are awarded to deserving undergraduate students majoring in Food Science and Nutrition, with preference to students coming from areas in which seafood and/or freshwater fisheries are important.
