Ms. Anne Fleming Coghill
Ms. Coghill graduated from high school in 1951, and married Roger Fleming of Manson, NC. Anne worked for Carolina Power & Light Company while Roger attended NC State College. When Roger joined the Air Force and was transferred to Washington, D.C. Anne joined him; this time was one of the highlights of Anne?۪s life. Her career as Administrative Assistant took her from a coal mining firm in Washington, D.C. to Henderson, NC to work in the tobacco industry for many years, to helping with account in the family business, then on to an accounting firm where she retired in 2000. When Roger passed away in 1981, Anne sold all the real estate they had acquired that was marketable, paid off the debts on it and concentrated on closing the business, which was sold out in 1985. This was done to ensure her sons were able to continue to college, and graduate. In 2000, Anne married Marvin Coghill, a classmate from high school. They live in Wilson, NC where Anne has remained active in her community. This endowment was established to provide scholarships for one undergraduate student each year who has financial need and meets requirements of sufficient academic progress each year. It is her hope that these funds enable the recipient to continue his or her education with less difficulty.
