Ms. Donna P. Duerk

Donna P. Durek received a Bachelors of Architecture degree from the NC State College of Design in 1971, followed by a MArchAS from Course IV at MIT in 1980. She overcame sexist attitudes toward her from the then Dean Henry Kamphoefner, having to prove herself and her academic abilities. She graduated with a standing of 6th in her class. Dean Kamphoefner remarked that she was “pretty good for a girl.” Donna achieved a successful career in architecture. She was registered in Texas in 1972 while working for Claudill Rowlerr Scott. She later worked at the University of Houston as an Architectural Programmer. She is now an Emerita Professor of Architecture at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
