Ms. Virginia Leagans

This endowment was established by the Department of Agricultural and Extension Education in memory of Dr. J. Paul Leagans, an alumnus of North Carolina State University, and his wife, Mrs. Louise Leagans, who was a friend and mentor to many of Dr. Leagans’ students over the years. Dr. Leagans was considered by many to be the father of adult and continuing education in our country. He served on the faculty at NC State University for six years and went on to serve on the faculty at Cornell University for nearly 30 years. His contributions to the field of agricultural and extension education have been invaluable to the development of the strong, pertinent curricula used by both institutions to this day.
