Richard T. Oldham (Economics ‘06) is an alumnus of NC State’s Poole College of Management. He is Senior Vice President of Sanford Contractors, Inc. (SCI), owned and operated by the family since 1969. The North Carolina company provides a broad spectrum of construction
services for commercial, residential and industrial projects. Richard’s father, Donald T. Oldham (Donnie), has been President and CEO of SCI since 1989. Donnie also attended NC State before returning to help in the family business. The Wolfpack is well represented among
Sanford Contractors employees, and there have been many NC State students who benefited from SCI’s robust internship program.
The Oldham family is philanthropic and believes in investing in the communities around them. At NC State, Richard has supported several areas, including the Poole College of Management, the College of Engineering and NC State Athletics. The company also named four features on
the Lonnie Poole Golf Course through their generosity to the building campaign. Richard Oldham believes in higher education and in NC State’s ability to produce talented people. He also recognizes the importance of scholarships that can help reduce the financial burden of attending college. Richard’s gift will make a significant difference for future students in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering.
