Shoshanna Conway
Each Conway scholar gets a copy of John’s biography which was written by my brother Dr. Sam Williams. In that bio, they will learn that John was one of the first Richardson Fellows (now known as the Caldwell Fellows), and a superlative but humble man. Although his life was cut short at 27 years and 5 months, he contributed much during his time at NC State, to his work environment, his family and friends, his church, Scholar Cantorum, and in particular to me. In John’s untimely death, there was a determination that something good would come out of it. I get to see that every spring at the Engineering Scholarship dinner.
Impact
It has honored/memorialized my late husband who was a student at NC State both for his undergraduate (Aerospace Engineering) and graduate work (Mechanical Engineering). This endowed scholarship has financially helped more than 50 MAE undergraduate students. VERY rewarding!
