Steve and Laura White

The Steve and Laura White Endowed Scholarship was established on April 6, 2012 by Steve and Laura White, 1986 graduates of NC State with Bachelor’s degrees in Recreation Resources Administration. Laura also has a Masters in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management.

Both retired now, they spent their careers working in local Parks and Recreation agencies. Steve has spent over 20 years with the Raleigh Parks and Recreation Department working with Senior Adult Recreation programming. He was heavily involved with the Senior Games program at the County and State levels. Laura worked with state, county and local municipalities in park management, natural resource management and environmental education. Most of her career was spent at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve, where she worked to protect and interpret a unique natural area in a rapidly growing urban area.

Steve and Laura appreciate the education they received at NC State, the experiences they had during their college education and the lasting relationships they made. This has led them to give back by establishing a merit-based scholarship to support a deserving Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management student who is interested in municipal recreation.
