Steve R. Riley/Julia H. Riley
Our father, Homer L. Riley, was an amazing man until his passing, May 7, 2015. His children started this scholarship on his 85th birthday. He wasn’t one to shed many tears but he did on this day. It made his love for NC State come flowing up to the surface, beyond cheering for a game winning TD or slam dunk. It came from deep down and knowing that it was those short few years at State that kicked his career and life into a higher gear. He would never forget that. Never. And to have his children conspire on this together brought him supreme joy. But we weren’t alone. We reached out to his many friends and business colleagues with our plan and money came in as they paid their respects to him and what he did for them. So, what I would like to share with each year’s recipient is this link to a personal blog post on Dad’s life after it finally came to an end. https://rileytvblog.wordpress.com/2015/05/26/the-odyssey-of-homer/
Impact
This provides our family with the opportunity to honor our father and mother through supporting NC State while they were still alive. All of us Riley children grew up as Wolfpack fans whether we attended the University ourselves or not.
