Danielle D’Haene Memorial Scholarship
The D’Haene family has developed a love for NC State over the years as both Danielle and Angela graduated from NC State. Danielle graduated in 2004 from the Poole College of Management with a degree in Business and a love for entrepreneurship. The D’Haene family has a deep respect for service members and their families, as many of their closest family members have chosen to serve our country — Mike is a retired Chief in the Navy, and both Danielle and Angela married members of the military as well.
Impact
What inspired you to establish a scholarship at the Poole College of Management and what do you hope it will accomplish?
We chose to create an endowment to honor Danielle’s memory and help hardworking students achieve their goals. Danielle’s vivacity, generosity, creativity, and moxie touched so many lives. After she suddenly passed away in 2009 from complications from vasculitis, we were humbled by the number and variety of people who shared how special she was to them each year. We wanted those memories to live on forever and enable her to continue to positively impact others even if she couldn’t do so in-person.
