The Pardue Family

Lloyd Pardue was born in Yadkin County in September of 1926 and drafted into the US Army in 1945. After an honorable discharge from service he enrolled at High Point College (now University) , graduated then returned to Yadkinville, NC and taught for 33 years and served as Assistant Principal. During his time teaching, he met his future wife, Joan (Jo) Linville Pardue while she was visiting Yadkinville High School to recruit students into the area’s nursing program. As of 2016, they have been married for 64 years. Joan was born in 1932 in Kernersville, NC and raised on a small farm. She graduated City Memorial School of Nursing in 1953 and ranked number one in her class on the State Board Licensing Exam. Joan later received her BS in nursing from Winston-Salem State University. While working at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, she was named “Best All Around Instructor.”

Lloyd and Joan are the proud parents of Sam and Ruth Pardue. Sam is a CALS alumnus and former Department Head and Associate Dean at NC State. Currently, he is the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Georgia. He is married to Stacy Riely Pardue, the former Chaplain at Meredith College. Ruth Pardue is a Meredith College and North Texas State University graduate and educator/musician. She and her husband, Steve Braun, live in the Raleigh area.

Lloyd and Joan Pardue are committed to the belief that education not only enriches the lives of individuals, but their families and the communities in which they live. Being the first in their respective families to receive a college degree, they trust that this endowment may assist a new generation of students
