Trevor Clements

Nancy was a strong, motivated, caring and beautiful person that was struck down in the prime of her life and career by Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She left behind her husband, Trevor, and two children, Benjamin and Jillian. Benjamin received his BS and MS in the NCSU BAE program and is now a green infrastructure engineer with the City of Philadelphia. Jillian earned her electrical engineering degree from NCSU with honors, and is now obtaining her PhD in bioengineering of technologies to help those afflicted with conditions like ALS. Nancy would be very proud of her two children, and even more proud that they too help mentor others. We established the Nancy Clements Memorial Endowment to ensure that this support is continued at NCSU into perpetuity.

Impact

This was my way of ensuring that Nancy’s legacy of mentoring/supporting young women in developing careers in engineering, particularly in the trade fields like mechanical and electrical, would live on. Nancy was a professional engineer in the mechanical trade, and achieved the position of engineering manager for a major pharmaceutical company’s manufacturing facility in NC. As an executive in the ASHRAE Triangle Chapter, she helped link engineering students to the association. Nancy always took the time to mentor young women in the field to encourage and help them grow. I am proud to honor her legacy in this way.
