Scholarship recipients will be from Florida counties that lie on, or west of the Suwannee River. Preference will be given to students who graduated from public high schools within those counties. Second preference will be given to students who graduated from private high schools within those counties. Awards will be determined by the Dean of the COS or his or her designee in accordance with the established procedures for awarding merit-based scholarships. Awards will be for one year and may be renewable at the discretion of the Dean based on the criteria for merit-based scholarships; the student will be informed of the criteria when the original award is made. As part of that criteria, the student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 within his or her major for each separate year, as well as an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0. Awards to recruit incoming freshman desiring to major in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, or Statistics. Must be enrolled in a full-time basis and actively pursuing a degree from one of the aforementioned disciplines. A full scholarship shall be defined as tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies as annually defined by the University Cashier’s office. A full scholarship shall be awarded from this endowment as long as NC legislation allows out-of-state students on full scholarship to attend at the in-state rate. During any time if the aforementioned legislation is repealed, this scholarship shall then provide an award equal to out-of-state tuition and fees only. College of Sciences
