James Eugene Penland Scholarship
The James Eugene Penland scholarship was established by Anne Penland Love and her husband, Ira Wayne Love, in memory of Mrs. Love’s father, James Eugene Penland. This award is intended to benefit students with both high academic merit and financial need. Preference is given to students from Avery County and Clay County.
Requirements
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA
- Must maintain full time enrollment (minimum 12 credit hours per semester)
- Remain in an undergraduate program pursuing first undergraduate degree
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
Conditions
- Receipt of a major university award may impact eligibility for this award
- Total financial aid, including this scholarship and any “outside” awards, may not exceed the cost of attendance
- Recipients meeting the requirements listed above are given priority consideration for funding for the next academic year
