Walter G. Smith Farm-to-Philanthropy Endowment in Memory of Sherri C. Smith

Distribution from the fund will be used to support rural county student access initiatives through the Farm-to-Philanthropy program, the purpose of which is to enhance preparedness for and facilitate successful enrollment in CALS for students who are residents of rural counties in NC. These initiatives include, but are not limited to, ACT Supplemental Preparation in Rural Education (ASPIRE), Student Transfer Enrollment Advising and Mentoring (STEAM), “pay-it-forward” service-learning opportunities, and scholarships for STEAM graduates.
